Part of the strengthening and redevelopment project for Rotorua Museum has seen the replacement of some of the clay tiles that form the iconic orange roof of the Bath House building.
The Friends of Rotorua Museum have contacted artists to paint these pieces of history to form a unique exhibition on at the Rotorua Arts Village from 28 July until 3 August 2022.
With more than 30 tiles to view, some of the artists include: Tame Iti, Dick Frizzell, Mark Spijkerbosch, Judy Proctor, Kellez McManus, Derk Schepers, Kay Trask, Robyn Harland and Jean Van der Molen.
The exhibition with conclude with an auction of all painted tiles on Wednesday 3 August 2022 at 5.30pm. All funds raised will go towards acquisitions for Rotorua Museum.
A Piece of History will be on display at the Rotorua Arts Village (1240 Hinemaru Street) from 28 July until 3 August 2022 (Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 3.30pm, Saturdays: 10am – 2pm, closed Sunday, Monday and public holidays).
