Meet By Chance: Exhibition by Hiroe and Paul Howell
“Meet by Chance” is a multi-themed exhibition by Hiroe and Paul Howell; a celebration of chance meetings, art, and exchange of cultures. It is a celebration of their 30th anniversary, as well as the 15th anniversary of their immigration to New Zealand and forming “Rotorua RACCO” (Taiko Japanese Drumming Group).
This exhibition features Sashiko, a traditional Japanese embroidery technique, wood crafts from recycled materials, photography, and paintings by the couple. Be romanced by the exchange of poetry and art between Hiroe and Paul.
Everyone is invited to the exhibition’s opening event on Saturday, 3rd July 12pm – 2pm, to watch a Taiko mini concert with Japanese festivals slide show and celebrate “Tanabata” (Festival of the Stars) at The Arts Village. Shared lunch to follow during the event.
The exhibition runs from 3rd to 24th July at the Cottage and Mosaic Galleries during the Arts Village Opening Hours. Exhibition is supported by the Rotorua Civic Arts Trust.
