THE NUMBER ONE MATARIKI EVENT IN TE ARAWA
The Ohomairangi Foundation is a charitable Trust focused on providing platforms for artists in New
Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Allowing creative practitioners to thrive. The trust works with
community groups, youth, iwi, women, and multi-cultural communities to create opportunities that
are not otherwise available. In 2022 the foundation will host the No.1 Matariki event in Te Arawa.
Fundraising to support artists in the Lakes District Region. The high-end event will showcase local
and international art including fine art, high-fashion, music, and dance. With all proceeds being
generated back into the charitable trust to support future kaupapa for creative practitioners in New
Zealand.
This year the Ohomairangi Matariki event is a multi-cultural celebration. Including Maori, European,
Chinese, and Indian artists. Bringing together the entire local community to create an inclusive
cultural exchange. Reminding everyone that Matariki is for all New Zealanders.
