Rotorua Marathon 2021

Event Date Saturday 8 May 6:30 am - 8:00 pm

Take on the Lake and make it your greatest challenge in 2021!

Known affectionately as the “People’s Marathon” the Rotorua Marathon is Australasia’s oldest major marathon event.

Along with the iconic full marathon around Lake Rotorua, the Rotorua Marathon offers the Red Stag Timber off-road half marathon, 10km and 5.5km races.

5.5km – Shorter & Sweeter

The shortest of the event distances, but by no means short on breathtaking scenery and cultural significance. This race certainly packs a punch by offering up some of the best of what makes Rotorua so special. Starting in the historic Government Gardens, you will traverse over the surreal Sulphur Flats and back along the marathon course to the finish line.

10km – Has It All

A popular distance for teams, fundraisers and those finding their stride – this is the race for you. Whether you’re a seasoned local or new to the event, traversing the famous geothermal Sulphur Flats and running alongside the beautiful Whakarewarewa Forest will be 10 kilometers you won’t want to end.

21km – Run Or Walk The Forest

Arguably the most scenic Half Marathon in New Zealand, the Red Stag Timber Half Marathon snakes through the stunning Whakarewarewa Forest, helping to keep competitors cool. You’ll enjoy the epic scenery of the Redwood Forest and the picturesque Long Mile Road.

42km – NZ’s Most Iconic Marathon

Known affectionately as the “People’s Marathon” the Rotorua Marathon is Australasia’s oldest major marathon event, now in its 57th year. The full marathon centres around a full lap of Lake Rotorua, including stunning lake views and beautiful native bush.
