Jean Batten Square
1127 Haupapa Street, Rotorua, New ZealandStretching from Arawa Street to Haupapa Street and sandwiched between the Rotorua iSite and Rotorua Library, Te Aka Mauri, Jean Batten Square offers relaxed summer seating and a multi-sensory playground featuring locally-inspired features. During the day the park is a sculptural playground activated by physical engagement, by night a vibrant art work bathed in colour giving a sense of movement within the park.
The park is named after pioneer aviatrix, Jean Batten (1909 – 1982), who was born in Rotorua and as the first woman to make the return flight from England to Australia.
