Jean Batten Square

Stretching from Arawa Street to Haupapa Street and sandwiched between the Rotorua iSite and Rotorua Library, Te Aka Mauri, Jean Batten Square offers relaxed summer seating and a multi-sensory playground featuring locally-inspired features. During the day the park is a sculptural playground activated by physical engagement, by night a vibrant art work bathed in colour giving a sense of movement within the park.

The park is named after pioneer aviatrix, Jean Batten (1909 – 1982), who was born in Rotorua and as the first woman to make the return flight from England to Australia.
